One of America's best (and only) entries into the doom/death metal sports stadium, Orange County California's Morgion was formed in 1990 by Jeremy Peto (vocals/bass), Dwayne Boardman (guitars/vocals) and Rhett Davis (drums). The "Fanatic Decay" demonstration and a 7" single called "Lampoon" appeared in ‘92 and ‘93, severally, just it wasn't until quaternary age later that the banding -- rounded out by guitar player Bobby Thomas and Ed Parker on keyboards -- managed to scotch a record deal with Relapse and release their full-length debut (already trey years in the fundament) named Among Majestic Ruin. With its epic sound-scapes of crawl, atmospheric, down-tuned, so far judiciously musical doom/death alloy, the album challenged English pioneers such as Paradise Lost and Katatonia for rank depressive, self-destructive strong belief, and light-emitting diode to touring stints for Morgion with the likes of Entombed and Autopsy. The band also found clock time to enter in a Celtic Frost tribute album and perform at the Milwaukee Metal Fest before recording 1999's even more cheering (if morbidly so) Solinari piece of music. By then, Thomas and Parker had been replaced by multi-instrumentalist Gary Griffith (guitars/keyboards) and the group seemed stronger than ever, only subsequent disagreements over touring plans and their musical direction resulted in an acrimonious and on the face of it final part of slipway. That is, until the dust settled and Morgion reunited in 2002 (minus origination member Peto, replaced by bassist Justin Christian) to start work on an as yet unreleased third record album.

Stone Temple Pilots were able to make alternative rock into arena stone; of course, they became the most critically despised band of their geological era. Accused by many critics of organism zero more than than heist artists, pilfering from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains, the band withal became major stars in 1993. And the influences of those bands are seeming in their music, simply Stone Temple Pilots do make out to change things around a bit. STP are more implicated with tight song structure and riffs than punk fury. Their nighest antecedents ar non the Sex Pistols or Hüsker Dü; instead the band resembles bowl stone acts of the Apostles from the '70s -- it's popular hard stone that sounds good on the radio and in concert. No thing what the critics mightiness say, Stone Temple Pilots have undeniably catchy riffs and production; there's a reason why over three one thousand thousand people bought their debut album, Core, and why their irregular record album, Over-embellished, injection to number one when it was released.
Following the success of Purple and its accompanying duty tour, the band took some time off, during which the group's lead isaac Bashevis Singer, Scott Weiland, highly-developed a heroin addiction. In the spring of 1995, he was arrested for possession of diacetylmorphine and cocaine, and was sentenced to a rehabilitation computer programme. Following his culmination of the programme, Stone Temple Pilots recorded their third record album. Released in the spring of 1996, Diminutive Music...Songs From the Vatican Gift Shop, entered the charts at number four. Shortly after its release, Stone Temple Pilots proclaimed that Weiland had relapsed and entered a do drugs rehabilitation facility, thereby canceling the group's plans for a summer term of enlistment. Weiland's do drugs problems and the group's unfitness to backing Flyspeck Music with a circuit meant that the album couldn't repeat the achiever of its predecessors -- by the end of the summer, it had fallen out the Top 50 and had stalled at atomic number 78, which was substantially less than what the group's deuce previous albums achieved.
Still battling his personal demons, Weiland recorded a 1998 solo album, 12 Bar Blues, piece the unexpended members of STP recruited vocalist Dave Coutts to platter a self-titled LP under the refer Talk Show. To the surprise of many onlookers, Stone Temple Pilots so reunited, although shortly after complemental 1999's No. 4 Weiland was sentenced to a year in a Los Angeles county pokey for violating his probation stemming from an sooner condemnation for heroin possession. A freshly rejuvenated Stone Temple Pilots and a sedate Weiland emerged stronger than of all time during the new millennium. The band got back to basics on Eden Dee Da, released in summer 2001. Two geezerhood later, STP issued the challenging greatest-hits package Thank You. The audio-only edition featured 15 tracks -- 13 hits spanning the group's entire career, an acoustic version of "Plush" geological dating from 1992, and the new track "All in the Suit That You Wear." Thank You likewise appeared in a CD/DVD format that included trey hours of videos, live performances, and sub-rosa footage.

London hosts Sex and the City premiere
The world premiere of the new 'Sex and the City' movie took place in London last night, with all four of the movies stars in attendance.
You can watch a trailer for the movie here.
Controversy surrounded the choice of London, and not New York, where the series is set, as the location for the world premiere.
However, leading star Sarah Jessica Parker was quick to counter any criticism saying: "We decided to have it here and we're delighted to be here."
Wearing a pale green dress by Alexander McQueen, with her shoes and bag by the same designer, Parker was the first to arrive at Odeon Leicester Square, which had been sprinkled with sparkles for the occasion.
Topping the outfit was a green headpiece almost as tall as the star, featuring flowers, grasses and a butterfly, by Philip Treacy.
Speaking to reporters, Parker declined to answer questions on rumours of a rift with co-star Kim Cattrall, who plays PR executive Samantha Jones.
Cattrall was the second to arrive, wearing a red off-the-shoulder knee-length dress with a faint stripe by Vivienne Westwood.
Rumours of a rift between Cattrall and the show's other stars began to gather pace after it was alleged that it was Cattrall whose demands delayed the new film. Asked if she would be willing to do a sequel, she said: "Perhaps."
Cynthia Nixon, who plays lawyer Miranda Hobbes, arrived wearing a floor-length low-cut pleated black Calvin Klein dress, while Kristin Davis, who plays art dealer Charlotte York Goldenblatt, was the last of the foursome to arrive, wearing a cherry-red vintage sleeveless dress and cream peep-toe heels.
Adding to the debate as to why the premiere was being held in London she said: "Why not England? I like Britain. There's enough of us to go round."
Amongst the celebrities in attendance at the premiere were Big Brother presenter Davina McCall, Alex Curran, Michelle Ryan, and Tess Daly.
Others who attended included football pundit Gary Lineker, Lisa Snowdon, Kris Marshall and MacKenzie Crook.
'Sex and the City' is released in Ireland on 28 May.

Naomi Campbell recovering following operation
Supermodel Naomi Campbell is recuperating after being discharged from hospital following surgery.
Last week, she underwent four-and-a-half hours of surgery at a hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to remove a cyst.
The hospital said over the weekend that Campbell had recovered "very well" and left in a helicopter after being discharged on Friday afternoon.
Mirtes Bogea, spokeswoman for the Sirio Libanes hospital, said: "Doctors signed her release and she left in the afternoon in a helicopter that someone sent to pick her up."
Meanwhile Campbell hit out at "ludicrous" reports she was planning a party.
The Brazilian press reported that the 37-year-old planned to throw a lavish party on the day she left hospital.
But the model said in a statement: "I take my health very seriously, so to suggest that I would host a party following an operation is ludicrous.
"I would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and concern over the past week and for the fantastic service I have received at the hospital. I will now be recuperating in private."
The Streatham-born model underwent a four-and-a-half hour laparoscopy procedure on Monday.
A friend said: "The suggestion that she would throw a party as soon as she leaves is ridiculous and makes light of what she has been through over the last few days."

Agyness Deyn dropped by Burberry for being ‘over-exposed’
Agyness Deyn was dropped as the face of Burberry because she is ‘over-exposed’, a source close to the company has said.
The insider said that famed photographer Mario Testino — who is described as the fashion house’s advertising visionary; and known for his photos of Princess Diana — is fed up with the hype surrounding the 25-year-old model.
“Agyness was just a flash in the pan. Last year she was quirky but now she is challenging Kate Moss in the fame stakes by positioning herself everywhere,” says the source.
